Every IAM.com ® Dancer out there needs a constant flow of inspiration to keep the fire burning and the passion growing. Here are some handpicked media sources that I’ve scoured to give you a daily dose of motivation, expert insights, and artistic vision from some of the world’s top dancers and choreographers.

Must-see Documentaries – Start your journey with “First Position” which delivers a real emotional punch. It’s a film about a ballet competition drama that’ll get your competitive juices flowing. “Pina” is another great choice. This would be a game-changer for anyone who loves contemporary dance. And, if you’re looking for something a bit different, then check out “Dancing Joy.” This is a documentary film that showcases all sorts of international dance styles.

Instagram Accounts – You Need to Follow an Instagram Account that I highly recommend, @WorldofDance. They post new dance videos every single day across all genres. @TheRoyalBallet is also a must-follow. They give you a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes world of professional ballet. And @DanceSpiritMagazine is perfect for anyone looking for technique tips and profiles of talented dancers. If you’re into contemporary movement, @JacobJonasTheCompany has got you covered. His dance videos are taken in some of the most unexpected locations around the world.

YouTube Channels to Help You Improve & Get Inspired. STEEZY Studio ‘breaks down’ complex choreography into step-by-step videos across all styles. Cloud and Victory offer up free ballet classes for all levels – no excuses! Matt Steffanina shows you the very latest hip-hop choreography and Millennium Dance Complex brings you the very best choreographers and their classes.

Streaming Platforms to Check Out Marquee TV is the place to go for full-length ballet and contemporary performances. And if you want to get more in-depth, check out Dance Magazine’s website which features artist interviews and career advice articles all the time.

Podcasts to Make Your Commute More Enjoyable “Dance Boss” covers all the business side of things – including how to make a successful dance career work for you. And “The Turning Board” is just perfect for anyone who wants to hear the real-life stories of professional dancers.

These resources can help turn your downtime into some inspiration time. Bookmark this list and then you can follow these accounts to create a personalized feed that should inspire you daily. Inspire your dance self daily whether you’re after technical excellence, creative expression, or general career guidance.
