Where Performing Artists Find Their Path

Some people have known from age five that they’re going to be on stage. Others stumble into it. An open mic night changes everything. A friend says, “you should try modeling.” A video accidentally goes viral. Or maybe you just have an interest you’d like to explore. However you got here, IAM.com was built with you in mind. Let us help you along your path.

We cover eight corners of the performing arts and entertainment world: Actors, Artists, Athletes, Comedians, Creators, Dancers, Models, and Musicians. The content here ranges from “I’m sort of curious about this” all the way to “I’ve been doing this professionally for years and I’d like some sharper tools.” Wherever you fall on that spectrum, something here speaks to where you are right now.

Beginners Are Welcome Here. Pros, Too. And Everyone in Between.

A lot of performing arts content that’s already online assumes people know the ropes. IAM.com doesn’t. If you’re someone who’s still figuring it out, whether it’s comedy or acting or dance or something else entirely, this is a perfectly good place to start. Poke around. See what resonates.

If you’re further along, booking gigs, making a name for yourself, navigating the parts of a performing career that nobody warned you about, the resources here go deeper. And for working professionals, there’s professional-level content designed to keep you informed and moving forward in the entertainment industry.

Celebrity Profiles Worth Reading

Believe it or not, you do not have to be a performer to spend time on IAM.com. The site features in-depth profiles of celebrities and notable performers across all eight verticals. If you watch films, follow music, laugh at comedy specials, or root for athletes, these profiles give you a richer look at the people behind the work.

They’re also useful if you’re a performer yourself. Studying how someone you admire actually built their career, their real timeline, is one of the best forms of education out there.

This Has Been Years in the Making

IAM.com did not launch out of thin air. The site started back in 1999 and has gone through many iterations, just as the Internet has. In 2008, the Indie Song Contest launched and opened for submissions. It has run every year since, giving independent songwriters and musicians a real platform, real learning, and real recognition.

Along the way came the Indie International blog, covering news, trends, stories, and events from across the global independent arts scene. For years these properties lived separately. Now they all come together under one roof at IAM.com.

The site is operated by Indie Agency Management LLC. It’s built to be around for the long haul, through thick and thin, a growing resource that gets better the longer it exists.

Stay in the Loop

We’re still Building. We’re still Curious. And the best stuff is still ahead. Sign up with your email to get updates on new content, fresh resources, and opportunities. Let us know which of our eight performer verticals you’re most interested in. Whether you’re a performer or a fan of the performing arts, we’ll send you what actually matters.
